چکیده

The main goal is to analyze the influence of cracks on azimuthal variations amplitude. We restrict our investigation a single set vertical, circular, and flat cavities aligned along horizontal axis. Such are embedded in either transversely isotropic background with vertical symmetry axis (VTI) or surroundings. employ effective medium theory obtain orthotropic VTI homogenised medium, respectively. To consider amplitudes, we focus Vavrycuk-Psencik approximation PP-wave reflection coefficient. assume that situated one halfspaces only. Azimuthal depend stiffnesses, incidence angle, crack density parameter. Upon analytical analysis, indicate which factors (such as background’s saturation) cause coefficient have maximum absolute value direction parallel perpendicular cracks. discuss irregular cases, where such extreme values appear other than aforementioned directions. Due support numerical simulations, propose graphic patterns two-dimensional amplitude azimuth. consist series shapes change increasing Schemes differ depending angle saturation. Finally, extract these characteristic gas-bearing rocks. They may be treated gas indicators. findings verify using real stiffnesses extracted from sedimentary rocks’ samples.

A Growth Mechanism for Vertically Aligned Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes

One of the difficulties in developing practical nanotube-based devices is the large-scale production of aligned carbon nanotubes (CNTs). Due to their novel electronic and thermal properties, single-walled nanotubes (SWNTs) show great potential for use a variety of applications . The alignment of SWNTs has been reported, but only parallel to the substrate in the presence of strong electric or ma...

Wave attenuations in solids with perfectly aligned cracks

The theory of wave propagation and scattering in cracked media is applied to study the wave attenuations in an isotropic solid medium containing perfectly aligned penny-shaped microcracks. The unit normals of all cracks are assumed parallel to a given direction. The wave scattering model is formulated using an anisotropic Green’s dyadic approach. Explicit expressions are derived for attenuation...

Growth Process of Vertically Aligned Single-walled Carbon Nanotubes

The growth process of vertically aligned single-walled carbon nanotube (SWNT) films was investigated by means of in situ optical analysis and scanning electron microscopy. The measurements reveal that the growth of the SWNT film decreases after longer reaction times. This decrease is attributed to a combination of a diminishing growth rate and burning of the SWNTs due to oxygen in the growth ch...

Diameter modulation of vertically aligned single-walled carbon nanotubes.

We demonstrate wide-range diameter modulation of vertically aligned single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) using a wet chemistry prepared catalyst. In order to ensure compatibility to electronic applications, the current minimum mean diameter of 2 nm for vertically aligned SWNTs is challenged. The mean diameter is decreased to about 1.4 nm by reducing Co catalyst concentrations to 1/100 or by i...

Optical characterization of vertically aligned single-walled carbon nanotube arrays

Here we discuss spectroscopic investigation and characterization of vertically aligned single-walled carbon nanotube (VA-SWNT) arrays, which were synthesized using the alcohol catalytic CVD method [1]. Growth of the VA-SWNTs was monitored using an in situ absorbance measurement [2], which provides information about the growth process. Primary methods employed were Resonance Raman and UV-Vis-NIR...
